SWIS自獲得CIS、WASC認(rèn)證以來，積極發(fā)揮成員學(xué)校的作用，上周六，在SWIS圖書館舉辦了ACS WASC（美國西部院校聯(lián)盟學(xué)校認(rèn)證委員會）的認(rèn)證官培訓(xùn)，55位來自深圳和周邊地區(qū)國際學(xué)校、有志于成為認(rèn)證官的教師以及學(xué)校領(lǐng)導(dǎo)參加了培訓(xùn)。SWIS共有12位教師參加了本次培訓(xùn)。

One of the responsibilities of being an accredited school is to provide trained staff to serve on accreditation visiting teams. Serving on an accreditation team is an intense yet rewarding 4-5 day experience. It should be noted that serving on a team is a voluntary service to the international school community. Visiting team members do not receive payment for their service. SWIS has sent a number of its staff to serve on or lead accreditation visit teams.

Last Saturday, SWIS hosted the Accrediting Commission for Schools, Western Association of Schools and Colleges (ACS WASC) visiting committee member training workshop for those educators interested in serving on ACS WASC visiting teams. Fifty-five teachers and education leaders from the region attended the session including twelve SWIS staff members. Led by the WASC trainer, Barbara Parker, the attendees were trained on how to use the WASC accreditation protocol. Through a study of the accreditation protocol, participants were exposed to the standards from which quality schools are measured. Even if participants choose not to serve on an accreditation team, the session served to allow educators better understand the standards for how schools can develop into student-centered institutions.

本次在SWIS舉辦的認(rèn)證官培訓(xùn)由WASC專家Barbara Parker主講。培訓(xùn)詳細(xì)解讀了WASC的認(rèn)證程序、標(biāo)準(zhǔn)和操作，對學(xué)員來說，這次培訓(xùn)除了對如何成為認(rèn)證官具有指導(dǎo)意義之外，對深入理解學(xué)校教育如何真正做到以學(xué)生為中心也有很大啟發(fā)。

對于申請WASC認(rèn)證的候選學(xué)校，如果進(jìn)入最后認(rèn)證階段，必須迎接WASC認(rèn)證評審團(tuán)到校評估4至5天。來自世界各地國際學(xué)校的具有資質(zhì)的優(yōu)秀教育者，他們零酬勞志愿組成認(rèn)證官評審團(tuán)，是WASC維持高標(biāo)準(zhǔn)專業(yè)化評審流程的重要一環(huán)。
